| Doing, like, research on characters . . . |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|08:39 pm] |
I'm not saying that I'm stuck. I'm saying that after writing 3000 words on saturday that I've run out of steam. And I'm not saying that my headspace today is, well, not great, BUT I'm not letting myself write. So I thought that I'd do some research on the character who I'm using as POV for the next part of my fic. Gwen.
So I went to the torchwood comm to do my research. I'm a naughty little torchwood fangirl and haven't waited any of the episodes enough, so I figured I'd let other people do the work for me and see what they're saying (I did it the hard way for the rest of the fecking story alright?). And I've read now pretty much all the posts tagged as discussion and gwen. And it's really really sad. It's pretty much Gwen bashing and discussions of Gwen/Jack.
Back a few months ago when I wanted to start writing some Robin Hood fic but didn't know where to start because it had been far too long since I seriously wrote fic I looked up some advice. One piece of advice that meant I have since had Robin firmly lodged in my brain, was to describe them. Their good points and their bad. What they try to show the world and what they try to hide.
PS I used Sparks for my Ianto info. Think it's the whole Gwen thing that will have me banging my head against my desk trying to write the next part of my fic. Seriously, does Gwen have that ability? |

| Quick post |
[Jul. 15th, 2008|10:03 pm] |
Saxen's been torn open by barbed wire. C.20 stitches and a general later . . . he's sore, and can't lie down very easily. I feel so helpless because there's nothing we can do.
Dave's having to sleep downstairs with him tonight (or until he can do stairs without the yelps).
I'm getting increasingly certain that I'm going to fail my driving test at this rate. It wasn't as dangerous in my lesson this morning as it could have been, but we'll see what tomorrow is like. Must go and iron a shirt for tomorrow. Or just rewear todays. Rewear me thinks. Feck anyone who thinks I smell. I don't care! Last week I had an accident at work and today my baby puppy got hurt. Ironing is the last thing on my mind. |

| Am I paranoid? |
[Jul. 11th, 2008|01:32 pm] |
I feel the need to ask this.
Dave and vet thought I was paranoid last weekend because of the dog's gagging cough. Okay, so he's fine without the vet doing anything, but it could have been more serious.
And now, despite the fact that everyone else is telling me to see the doctor, he seems to think I'm paranoid and overreacting about having to see the doctor today. Read the story below to make your own mind up. Please tell me if you think I'm paranoid, or just doing what needs to be done to make sure.

| Talking about Bad Wolf . . . |
[Jul. 4th, 2008|03:22 pm] |
|
Dune_drd asked the question back in March about whether we'd seen the conclusion of Bad Wolf.
I think it's an interesting idea to raise again. Obviously spoilers in the comments. DO people think we've seen the end of the explanation of Bad Wolf? Did Parting of the Ways explain it for you? Has the last couple of episodes explained anything more for you? |

| Spoiler speculation |
[Jul. 4th, 2008|02:36 pm] |
Speculation about a specific line/moment in Doctor Who's Stolen Earth. SPOILERS
I just need to keep speculating about this really. I'm only going to have my OH around to watch it with and I'm not even going to get to watch it on saturday evening. So I need to keep speculating. It also helps stop highbrain functions being overwelmed by the little section of my brain that deals with ships. |

| The other post, a Doctor/Rose observation. |
[Jul. 2nd, 2008|10:01 pm] |
Not really a spoiler, so no cut (I don't count first series Who as spoilers). But I was listening to Maroon 5 this morning and realised something - the Doctor and Rose keep getting split up and reunited. Rose, End of the World (Rose locked into that room and him wondering off with a tree), Unquiet dead (she was kidnapped), Aliens of London (not so much, but he did leave), World War Three (seperated for that meeting and then right up to being trapped together), Dalek (van statton kidnapped the Doctor and then Rose gets locked in), then their not seperated episode, Father's Day (the Doctor gives himself up to the reaper), Empty Child (okay Rose walks off, but then barrage balloon wasn't her fault really), Doctor Dances (not so much), Boom Town (thank you Mickey), Bad Wolf (the game station), Parting of the Ways (duh). Don't know the second series so well, and I know it's sometimes their own fault they get seperated BUT the Doctor does seem to spend more time trying to get Rose back to his side than he does other companions.
It's just . . . I was thinking about their. Opps, spoilers. Umm, well I got thinking about them being seperated and reunited. They just can't seem to get a break. And I think I love that. I mean, the reason I don't ship Marian/Robin is because there's nothing to ship, it's so canon and so already there's nothing to ship. If the Doctor and Rose didn't get split up so much, and have so much in the way, then there'd be nothing to ship whatsoever.
So yeah, me uber excited about saturday. Still gonna keep singing the "it's not canon" song and writing my AU fic. And I actually found a way to cross my AU back with canon and have it fit with canon to make canon better than without it. But I need to rewrite something I wrote a few months ago so it's Donna and not Martha. What do you think? If I rejig so that it's just this meeting, tone down the ship and make it Donna rather than Martha, that would fit really nicely with canon wouldn't it? Here's the first bit, there's a bit more but it's not on here and I don't have time to type it up tonight. So, what do you think, worth the rejig? (keeping in mind the fact that I haven't posted fic outside of this journal for nearly 3 years). |

| Give me spoilers/rumours/whatever |
[Jul. 2nd, 2008|09:36 pm] |
Sorry for the soppy icon, I just don't get to use it enough.
SO umm yeah. I feel in the need for some spoilers. I don't mind if it's for saturday's episode, the christmas special (yes I know who the baddy's going to be), or any of the other specials. I don't mind if it's a proper spoiler, rumour, speculation, your own mad theory (like nogbad's one about Chris running around in the next episode (oh look, a link to the icon yippee!)). BUT I need them right now. I can't wait until saturday. I'll need to wait until sunday because I won't be home on saturday, and I know I'll need to keep my phone turned off until I've seen it because otherwise I will have half my family trying to ask me questions about an episode I've not watched and several friends.
So you have been warned, spoilers in the comments (and under the cut, which is long).

I've just realised that I'm a bad fangirl.
I think that bar the christmas specials and the children in needs specials (and then only the most recent), I don't think I've seen any of Tennent episodes more than once all the way through. Seen bits of them for a second time, but not all the way through.
Bad fangirl. Seriosuly bad fangirl. |

| Need a beta |
[Jun. 4th, 2008|09:48 pm] |
I have written the next chronological chapter for Last Time Lord.
Thing is that because it's been so long (about two and a half years) since I wrote the last one I need someone to look over it for me so I can keep it consistent. As well as the normal beta stuff. It's just over 500 words. Obvious anyone who volunteers needs to read the first 7 chapters. But to be honest they average about 500 words at the moment, so it doesn't take long. I can give anyone who'd like the link to teaspoon where it's currently up. Come on guys, someone knows they want to read this. Please . . . |

| Question/poll, Hamlet and costumes . . . |
[May. 30th, 2008|08:34 pm] |
Poll #1196424
Open to: Friends, detailed results viewable to: AllFirst of all, should I join Nightbeast in going to Hamlet in costume? Assuming I sort out a Rose costume, which one? Once I've got some sensible suggestions I'll put together some pictures and do a better poll. The one spanner in the works is that I am planning on getting my hair cut really quite very short before then (no I can't wait until afterwards), and well whilst the cross-dressing thing is fun I don't think I'll be able to find a good enough binding-board to pull off either Jack or Adam (wrong doctor for Adam anyway) (and I'm not trying to get myself a Jack coat by then either). I do still want to dress up, but am worried that this is all going to cause too many problems, unless anyone can suggest a solution . . . |

| It's arrived!!! |
[May. 30th, 2008|08:07 pm] |
Robin Hood's here!! My little Muchly is here! I can finished my smutty slash!
Shaman_whore you are in for a treat. My dave is leaving me to watch the first series in peace so I can squee and make fangirlish comments to my heart's content. And I can overcome my problem that I don't feel I know my boys well enough to finish my smut fic for them. But I have been clapping and singing the theme song all day in glee at the thought of Muchly in his hat, Muchly with shorter hair (yes I've renamed him Muchly in my head), Muchly in his underware tied to a tree (tree!porn!), Muchly in the bath, and my dear sweet little Muchly being all concerned about dying Marian. You'll learn boy. You'll learn. That bitch'll burn you yet. I'll stop there before I have to put this behind a spoiler warner. So yes, just a little excited. Working an extra couple of hours at work didn't have any affect there. By myself. Writing Who fic. Feel the need to finish my Who fic before I progress to actually watching my boxset. So instead, this evening I spent a bit of time watching tv and just hugging the darned thing to me. What can I say, I haven't been able to treat myself to anything like this since last year, and I've wanted this boxset since december. I'm not going to be rushing through it. I have some Doctor Who commentaries to watch (finished Ark in Space last night and am laughing my way through the commentary over the weekend) and a Who fic to finish (once I work out again where I'm heading with it, but that's okay, just a first draft), and of course I have Doctor Who on each week too! Yes, I'm a fangirl. Yes, I'm a geek. But if pleasure is desire fulfilled, this is going to be a whole lot of pleasure.
Much/Robin/Marian, almost as good as Nine/Rose/Jack. Almost. |

[May. 26th, 2008|12:14 pm] |
I have just ordered myself the first series of Robin Hood on DVD!
I have been promising myself this for months! Hours of Much to look forward to! And thanks to my discount and voucher from my sister I've got it for nearly half price! Slashy love all the way - Robin/Much!
I get paid on friday. And even with saving some money this month and having paid out for the car stuff I have a little money left over. Enough to spend £17 on the Robin Hood boxset and all the slashy love! And you never know, I might even finish my smutty follow up to my last Robin Hood fic now (since it'll be the last of the research my RobinMuse has demanded). Gods I love retail therapy. Even more so when it's from the comfort of my own computer. Money wise I now just need to got through and see if there's any more bills I can reduce down to save me enough money for a third holiday this year (read, going away for a third weekend this year that isn't in some way tied to Dave's business). |

| game/quiz/my phone is clogged up with these texts |
[May. 26th, 2008|10:11 am] |
Since I introduced the woman I work with to tv shows such as Heros, Torchwood and Doctor who after every episode I receive a text message from her with some comment about that episode. Because they are funny and entertaining I've saved them all. But the thing is that my phone is now half full of them after an entire series of Heros, an entire series of Torchwood and several episodes of Doctor Who, so I'm going to write some of them up here. This will allow me to save some of them and also challenge (not a very hard one) people to work out which show and episode she was talking about. So please respond in a comment. There's obviously spoilers if you haven't seen at least as far as the BBC has shown of these programmes, but if you have there's no spoilers.

| Yesterday and the rubbish Plymouth bomber |
[May. 23rd, 2008|12:58 pm] |
Yes I said Plymouth. He is from Plymouth and rubbish. I rest my case about the place, it's more rubbish than Bridgwater. Speaking of that place, I remember being taught the drill for when the bomb bell went off at school. We had fire drill and bomb drill. Yes we did.
And the media were spot on, no matter what anyone tells you this morning people were freaked by this whole thing. Not so much scared or panicked, but very much freaked. The only outside remains of this though are that people are still wondering why on this earth any one would think it a good idea to try and blow up part of exeter.
My day yesterday was full of eventfulness. It wasn't fun. Not least because my line-manager's line manager (who was in charge of us yesterday) didn't think it terribly important how I was going to get home once the buses were stopped (after he found out his own son was safe, he was slightly concerned before then). And he seemed to think we should be staying until the end of the meeting. Despite my getting home problems and the woman I work with had family who had been in town at the time. I hear that many other businesses within walking distance of the city centre closed at lunch time. Except us. Me not happy with them. |

| Shakespeare |
[May. 20th, 2008|12:17 pm] |
Random discussion at work and I invite people to join in.
If there was to be a film made about the life of Shakespeare, who would you like to see playing the man himself?
Suggestions so far: The bloke who played Christ in the BBC version of the Passion. Ray Winston (don't ask) David Tennent (yes it was my suggestion, and yes I am still a bitter Nine-fan)
Please say something of why you think a particular actor would be good as Shakespeare. |
